in retrospect

i rewatched an old show from 20 years ago. in the show, where there's a well-designed house, many things still look very modern, they don't appear outdated. items like the sofa, the flooring styles and patterns, and the floor-to-ceiling glass doors with black frames maintain a contemporary look. even the cars don't seem outdated. however, when it comes to computers and phones, they look so ancient, so different, a stark contrast in comparison. the phones appear so small, and the computers look so bulky. some things don't even seem relevant anymore, like a voice recorder device, a dictionary book, a physical map. how rapid, this advancement of computers in comparison to some other things. in retrospect they advance much faster than others.
